The End of a Tricky Month but I'm Still Writing!
In which I'm glad to get to the end of November & carry on writing
November has been a rather tricky month for me, I have to admit. Book sales/downloads have been thin on the ground, and I’ve felt a bit low about it all. But I’m hoping that I might get one or two book sales in the run-up to Christmas, which will make my writing life feel a bit more positive.
With that aim in mind, I’ve been trying out a Christmas Campaign for the first time ever - with a focus on a few of my books that are suitable for Christmas reading. Heartwarming & romantic with a hint of spooky are the vibes I’m aiming for - depending on the book. People have been really kind about it - for which HUGE thank you! And, much to my surprise, I have actually sold TWO copies of my quirky ghost story An Unexpected Haunting so THANK YOU so much to those two lovely readers - you have made my week! Don’t forget it’s FREE AT KINDLE UNLIMITED!
So, if you’re looking for something spooky or spicy for Christmas, then here is the perfect trio for you! 🥳🥳🥳 NB All my books are available as paperbacks or Kindles at Amazon and are FREE with Kindle Unlimited!
Meanwhile, on the writing front, I’m still working on The Music of Flowers. It’s been a struggle to get going this week, but I’m bumbling along somehow. I’ve now reached the magic number of 20,000 words and Fleur is having to deal with her past, as well as some unexpected magic. At the same time, Julia’s magic class is going very wrong, I fear …
However, I was hugely cheered at the start of the week when an Insta Threads reader finished my novel Three Perfect Gifts and very kindly contacted me to say this: “Wow 😭💜 thanks for writing this beautiful story ✨️” Thank you so much, Diana - you have so made my day, thank you. 🥰 x
This week’s poem is an extract from Unknown Path, which is found in A Fragile Map & Other Poems. It’s about how love changes everything for the better. 😍 Don’t forget the collection is FREE WITH KINDLE UNLIMITED!
Meanwhile Christmas has arrived at our local farm shop! So I bought my first sprouts of the season & some multicoloured tomatoes.

And on Saturday, my lovely husband bought me some lovely flowers from the shop - they are just so colourful:
Finally I now have 266 newsletter subscribers so a big HELLO to you all! Oh and a very happy Advent Sunday & St Andrew’s Day as well.

Have a lovely week & a good start to December, everyone.

When readers are rare and my spirit is tender, this thought comforts me. I offer it here in hopes that it may warm your creative soul, too:
Perhaps it’s not about now. Many of the great masters of art weren’t fully appreciated in their lifetime, yet generations later, their stories and work are deeply treasured.
Maybe that’s the quiet truth about storytelling. It isn’t always for the crowd. Sometimes, it’s a gift we leave behind—for someone, someday, who needs it.
P.S. The flowers your husband brought you are lovely!
