Flowers & Romance
In which I finish the first round edits of my witchy fiction novel and rejoice in some good MM romance reviews
This week, I’ve finished the first round of edits for The Music of Flowers. Fleur, Julia & I are very happy indeed and are planning to work on second round edits next week …
Meanwhile, I’m adding more to MM romance Jack’s Party. In a first for me, I’m writing scenes as & when my main character Ralph reveals them - so there’s no order to it at the moment. At some point I hope there will be though. At the same time, secondary characters Jack (he of party fame!) & Alec are starting to make their personalities known.
And I’m also in the final stages of preparing the audiobook of YA fantasy The Honeymaker’s Daughter, which is being narrated by the lovely Cindy Palmer.
I have my first review for MM romance The Heart’s Deeper Voice & it’s 5 stars 😍 When Craig meets the man who betrayed him six years ago, he plans revenge, but is his heart telling him a different story?...
I also have a new 4-star review for the audiobook of MM romance Where You Hurt The Most 😍 When falling in love is against all the rules of the game ...
Meanwhile, you can browse for your perfect romance & women’s fiction read here, including my own The Friday Friendship Club! Happy reading 😍
Your weekly poem is Canvas which is all about painting. It's from my Learning to Swim collection, available as a Kindle & paperback on Amazon. 😍
This week I’ve read Spark by Susan Scott Shelley & Chantal Mer: this is a rather moving romance between two very different men who have to learn to understand and accept each other's different approaches to life. I really enjoyed the family set up for both Fin & Mateo, particularly the interplay between Fin and his siblings - that was great! I also appreciated the way the different financial backgrounds was dealt with, and how both men have to learn to compromise on the financial ideals they both have. Definitely a good read.
I’ve also read Stronger than Hope by Katherine McIntyre: this is another very moving MM romance about two men with a lot of baggage in their lives who are trying to start afresh in various ways. Nate is recovering from a bad break-up and has mental health issues such as anxiety and low self-esteem which threaten to derail him at every turn. In spite of that, he's trying to get back on track with his life and career. Linc on the other hand is very confident but still grieving for his dead wife and bringing up his shy son as a single father. I loved the way they slowly work through these issues together in order to forge a strong relationship. I also enjoyed the fact that bullying-survivor Nate is well placed to help Linc's son with his school problems in a practical way that Linc is unable to. That rang true to me. There are misunderstandings and issues to overcome for these two, but the ending is wonderful. Highly recommended.
In nature news, there were some beautiful poppies at church during the week!

Have a lovely week, everyone. And if you are book-shopping, please think of my books! Thank you.
